Introduced the Maritime Heritage theme in Passage West as a brand from which the town could move forward

You may remember how Diarmuid Gavin, when working with the people of Charleville in his Dirty Old Towns series, advised how branding could promote a town?  I proposed that Passage West might most successfully use the theme of Maritime Heritage as its brand.

The concept was warmly received around the Town Council table and it was under this theme that projects such as the redevelopment of the Sirius Garden were advanced.  I also gave several illustrated presentations to clubs and groups on the age-old maritime related heritage of Passage West.  These were hugely well received, but that which was most challenging was an illustrated talk in French delivered at the Monkstown Golf Club to visitors from our twinned town of Chasseneuil du Poitou!
